Domaine Geantet Pansiot
Last week we tasted through the 2009 & 2010 wines from Domaine Geantet Pansiot. Pansiot has been a star performer according to Burghound in recent vintages, and the tasting reinforced that theme.
Most of the village wines have been ranking in the top 50 ‘outstanding top value’ new releases. In particular the ‘En Champs’ label has been a revelation, fielding the highest rating in both vintages.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the tasting was identifying the quality of both the 2009’s and 2010’s in albeit differing styles.
If you like a more elegant style, pure beautiful fruit, but a solid acid spine and subsequent hint of austerity, then 2010 is for you. If you like ripe (but not over the top) fruit, that really fleshes out over the palate with a less pronounced crispness on the finish, then 09’s are your thing. Both are sublime!
The Pansiot wines do deliver bang for the buck, however, they are quite brooding styles that will need a few years in bottle yet before offering their best.
