2009 Epis & Williams Cabernet Merlot Epis' chardonnay and pinot noir (quite rightly) attract all the attention, but when the cabernet merlot is good it's very good. And this release is very good. It's a beautifully ripened, cool climate style. It feels fantastic on your tongue too: it has a tongue-hugging smoothness. It tastes of pencils and eucalypt/menthol, blackcurrant and autumn leaves. Its centre is sweet but the surrounds are savoury. It then finishes with a sense of impeccable balance. It will take age excellently. Style: Macedon Ranges Victoria $38.00 | |
