Tasting Notes

Montagny is home to a dizzying number of Premier Cru vineyards, not all of which, says Aladame, are quite worthy of their rank. Regardless, this is terrific white Burgundy that carries its classification lightly. It's a blend off two Premier Cru sites (Les Maroques and Les Gouresses), both on limestone rich soil, the harvest taken from younger vines planted between 1995 to 2014. The 2019 was raised entirely in cuve.

Layered with complexity, there is orchard fruit, nutty undertones and an intriguing savoury edge. The palate is rich and generous with a viscosity carried by an assertive acid line, phenolic grip and a mid-palate fleshiness. The finish is concentrated, powerful and savoury. Chablis in southern shoes. In other words, we love it. Bibendum - Importer note
