Bel Colle Pajore Barbaresco 2016

Lashings of sweet red berries, heaps of floral perfume, aniseed and spice, new leather and sage. Medium-bodied, juicy in the red fruit department, not quite jubey, though certainly bursting with the joy of youth and excitement of vintage 2016. It has a translucent quality, a shimmer of perfume, with ultra-fine pumice stone tannin, and a vibrant finish of excellent length, where fine persistent tannin tussles with fragrant black tea and bright red fruits. Transparency and finesse. It's a great Barbaresco. 96pts Gary Walsh - Winefront

Bel Colle Monvigliero Barolo 2016

It’s a bit locked in and compressed initially, but give it some air and it roars out of the glass. Dark cherry, liquorice root, spice and perfume, a ‘mineral’ crushed rock kind of thing happening. Sweep of pumice stone tannin, freshness and cool minty acidity, and a long sweetly tannic and red-fruited finish. Terrific release here. Will age magnificently. Tasted March, 2020. 96pts Gary Walsh - Winefront
