Tasting Notes

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta is a tremendous wine and one of the best expressions of the vintage. This beautiful Brunello reflects the exuberant personality of its artist creator, Sandro Chia, and tastes like it has absorbed all of the radiant sunshine of the vintage. What stands out here is the softness, intensity and the purity of the red fruit aromas. Background notes of spice, leather, dried herb and crushed mineral add complexity. The mouthfeel is robust and generous. Castello Romitorio always performs well in warm vintages, and this is one of my go-to Montalcino estates in 2011. Monica Larner
