Tasting Notes

Vines 26-100yo from Ebenezer, Lyndoch and Eden Valley, vinified and matured separately; hand-picked, crushed/destemmed, 2 days cold soak, 3-4-tone fermenters with head boards, cultured yeast, 10 days on skins, 30 months in French oak (50% new). The only question about this wine is whether it will be very good indeed or outstanding. This year it's in the latter camp, with fabulous colour for a 3yo, a palate of exceptional complexity and harmony, and a velvet smooth palate. Underneath that velvety smoothness there are flavours of blackberry, licorice tannin and French oak chasing each other energetically. A special wine. James Halliday
