Tasting Notes

A gorgeous tapestry of herbs and lusciously ripe red, black and purple fruit on the palate. I was very wary of this wine when I saw 15% on the label, but this is, quite frankly, a glorious explosion of gorgeousness. Unfettered, wildly thespian, absolutely no restraint. This is cabaret and carnival in a whirl of festival excess. Damsons, dark chocolate, mint imperials, blackberries, crushed hedgerow herbs, apricots dipped in pomegranate molasses, blood orange and a big, soft jewel-cut, ruby glow of a smoky cherry heart. This is an outrageous wine in every way. It's a cross dressing, burlesque, vaudeville of celebration. It's sumptuous yet lithe, excessive and yet fresh and moves with adroit, lithe, clever choreography. Normally I would caution 'much caution' when it comes to wines 15% and over, but frankly, with this wine, all I can say is defy you to resist it. 17/20pts Jancis Robinson
