Tasting Notes

This Chenin value comes from 100% hand-harvested fruit, organically grown in Rochefort-sur-Loire, just south of the river opposite Savennières. Phillipe Germain (brother of Roche Neuves' Thierry Germain), is in charge of the vineyards, which are influenced by the schist-rich, volcanic soils of the Massif Armoricain. It's the type of rock that imparts a pungent, stony bite to the dry Chenin of the area. The wine was vinified in two- to four-year-old 400-litre casks. Picking up where last year's wine left off, the 2019 is super racy, tangy and bright, with plenty of apple, lemon pith and honey fruit, a mouth-watering spine of shimmering acidity and a driven, salty close. Excellent value. Bibendum Wine Co - Importer note
