Tasting Notes

Lashings of sweet red berries, heaps of floral perfume, aniseed and spice, new leather and sage. Medium-bodied, juicy in the red fruit department, not quite jubey, though certainly bursting with the joy of youth and excitement of vintage 2016. It has a translucent quality, a shimmer of perfume, with ultra-fine pumice stone tannin, and a vibrant finish of excellent length, where fine persistent tannin tussles with fragrant black tea and bright red fruits. Transparency and finesse. It's a great Barbaresco. – 96pts, Gary Walsh for Winefront

Deepish ruby-red colour. The bouquet is superbly complex with earthy ironstone-mineral aromas foremost and very good savoury nebbiolo character. The wine is packed with tannin and earthy, savoury, terrestrial flavours, of subtle complexity and good persistence. The tannins are supple and relatively gentle. A really lovely Barbaresco. – 95pts, Huon Hooke
