The 2013 vintage at Caparzo captures the essence of a traditional, cooler growing season, yielding a wine of remarkable poise and classical proportions.

This Sangiovese was sourced from a strategic selection of vineyards across both the northern and southern sectors of Montalcino, then matured for two years in traditional Slavonian oak casks to preserve its varietal purity. In the glass, it presents a deep ruby hue with crimson overtones, transitioning into an aromatic profile of wild strawberry, dried cherry, and earthy underbrush, accented by hints of tobacco and stony minerals.

Bruce Sanderson of Wine Spectator, who awarded the wine 95 points, observed that it "cuts more of a broad swath than its peers" while maintaining an impeccable grace.

On the palate, the wine is long and dense, where firm, noble tannins are seamlessly integrated with a vibrant acidity that drives a persistent finish tinged with savory herbs and smoke.
