The 2021 vintage marks a historic transition for Vietti’s classic Barolo as the "Castiglione" designation is removed from the front label, though the wine’s esteemed multi-cru pedigree remains untouched. Sourced from over 20 distinct vineyard sites across the appellation, this release reflects the "modern classic" nature of the 2021 season, which provided a long, stable summer and ideal ripening conditions.

In the glass, it shows a luminous ruby red with garnet glints, offering an explosive aromatic profile of ripe cherries, black raspberries, and rose petals layered with sophisticated notes of cinnamon, menthol, and liquorice.

The palate is characterized by its remarkable fruit depth and lifted acidity, where dense yet velvety tannins provide a masculine structure that is both polished and precise.

James Suckling, the lead critical reference, finds it to be "a graceful wine with cinnamon, earth, strawberries, sweet violets and leesy complexity" that beautifully straddles the line between power and ethereal finesse.
