Tasting Notes

A striking Barossa Shiraz from Agricola’s K’Sands bottling, this 2024 release was reviewed at 97 points by James Suckling, who highlighted its origin in historic Kalimna sands vineyards planted in the 1860s and its poised union of freshness and power: “Dark-fruited and spicy, with aromas of ink, crushed stones, mulberries, blackberries, violets…”. In the glass, it presents as a dark-toned, luminous red, opening with a finely layered bouquet of red and black berries, violet and rose petal lift, Asian spice, cured meat and a subtle mineral note. The palate is polished yet commanding: velvety in feel, threaded with silky tannins, savoury depth and bright acidity, carrying dark fruit, floral nuance and spice across a seamless, perfumed line. The impression is one of old-vine Barossa intensity rendered with uncommon grace, finishing long, refined and quietly exotic.
