Tasting Notes
Rooted in the chalky clay and sandy gravel soils adjacent to Saint-Émilion, this Right Bank blend from Vignobles Denis Barraud reflects a classic, approachable snapshot of the 2006 Bordeaux growing season. While the vintage lacked the extreme concentration of the preceding 2005 year, it favored early-drinking charm and pure varietal expression.
Pouring a traditional dark garnet ruby, the bouquet unrolls with an earth-forward character, yielding soft wood spice, dusty clay notes, and dried red berries.
The palate displays a lighter to medium-bodied profile, delivering primary fruit flavors of red currant, raspberry, and subtle vanilla oak over a framework of high acidity and moderate, rustic tannins that finish dry.
Leading critic Robert Parker evaluated the vintage, describing it as "an inexpensive charmer from Bordeaux's generic appellation" that carries an undeniable regional authenticity.
