Tasting Notes
Crafted by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair from 11 distinct, scattered parcels within the legendary village of Vosne-Romanée, this biodramatically farmed Pinot Noir captures the challenging, low-octane nature of the 2011 Burgundy growing season. A year defined by fluctuating weather and a precocious summer required gentle cellar handling to retain purity and elegant structural limits.
Pouring a delicate, traditional translucent crimson, the wine yields an evocative bouquet that marries classic dark plum and spicy dark berries with a fragrant undertone of fresh strawberries and hints of underbrush.
On the palate, its medium-bodied framework delivers a notably velvety and supple mouthfeel. The texture remains beautifully harmonious, maintaining a lively tension where fine-grained, smooth tannins meet a bright, sorbet-like vector of freshness. Renowned critic Neal Martin highlights this graceful composition, noting that it offers a "medium-bodied and finely balanced" palate that guides the tertiary notes into a delightfully poised, clean finish.
