Tasting Notes

(from a parcel on the southern side of the appellation; the vines here are 60 years old, vs. 50 for the "regular" Clos de Bèze): Wonderfully scented, almost Musigny-like aromas of black cherry, licorice, violet and minerals. Boasts outstanding sappy energy and definition, with the dark berry flavors energized by piquant minerality and salty traces. These vines are actually on the Chambertin side of Clos de Bèze but the wine is less powerful than the estate's other Clos de Bèze, notes Hervet. The endless perfumed finish excites the taste buds. Just five barrels made.
