Critic Scores:
  • 94 – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
The 2023 Farr Rising Gamay is a masterclass in varietal tension and regional expression, born from a season that rewarded the meticulous viticulture of the Farr family in the Moorabool Valley. This vintage presents a luminous ruby hue in the glass, unfolding with a sophisticated aromatic profile of tart red berries, forest floor, and a signature "ash and twiggy herb" complexity.

On the palate, the wine is defined by its vibrant energy and precise structure; it balances nervy acidity with a nuanced, nutty undertone derived from its time in seasoned oak.

The texture is supple yet firm, showing the influence of whole-bunch fermentation and foot-stomping, leading to a finish that is both savoury and remarkably persistent. Leading critic Campbell Mattinson awarded the wine 94 points, describing it as "terrific to drink," highlighting its impeccable balance and the "fine-grained" nature of its tannins.
