Tasting Notes

Very floral and well defined, with a fresh style and restrained plummy fruit. Smooth and medium-bodied, with floral and blood orange flavors, zesty acidity and a glycerol veneer. Drink now. -93pts, James Suckling

The 2023 Barbera d'Alba is another fine entry-level offering from Burlotto. In 2023, Fabio Alessandria did not feel the Aves, his top Barbera, was materially different from this, the straight bottling, so he blended all the fruit together. Consequently, the Barbera has a bit more fruit density and a touch of oak influence (from new casks) that it does not usually have. Succulent red cherry, plum, spice, cedar and rose petal build nicely in the glass. -91pts, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
