Tasting Notes

883 dozen were made of Syrah No 2 in '12; 558 dozen were made of this wine, which is mostly picked from the higher sections of the vineyard. It sees 35% whole bunches, is fermented wild in open pots, is matured reductively and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It tastes pure, ripe, unforced and meticulous. Blackberries and black cherries, smoke, dried meat and crushed leaves/peppercorns. Low-ish alcohol but high impact; it has a forceful personality. Tannin throws ropes around the wine. It should mature beautifully. Campbell Mattinson for James Halliday
