Drawn from organically and biodynamically farmed old vines planted by Cyril Henschke in 1968 at 470 metres elevation, this single-vineyard Shiraz captures the essence of an exceptional cool-climate vintage—2021 delivered the mildest summer in nearly two decades, allowing unhurried ripening and remarkable purity of fruit.

The wine presents a deep, saturated crimson with violet-purple hues. Lifted aromatics of raspberry, Satsuma plum, and blackberry entwine with garrigue herbs, black peppercorn, violets, and crushed stone.

The palate unfolds with vivid mulberry and blueberry fruit, underpinned by bright acidity and a saline, almost briny nuance, while fine-grained, velvety tannins provide impressive structure without weight. Matured for eighteen months in predominantly seasoned French oak (82%) with a small proportion of American (18%), the oak influence is seamlessly integrated, lending subtle spice and polish rather than overt woodiness.

Ken Gargett awarded 97 points, remarking on its "projection, finesse and immaculate balance" and noting "the sleekest of tannins here, this is a wine which lingers with intent." The finish is long, spicy, and lifted—an Eden Valley Shiraz of quiet confidence and refined elegance.
