Tasting Notes

A 100% estate-grown chardonnay from the original plantings on the flat. It is an unashamedly bolder, riper style and an excellent example of its type. The juice from crushed fruit begins fermentation in a tank before being transferred to French barriques of mixed age for completion, followed by eight-month maturation on lees. The result is a wildly concentrated, satisfying wine with clotted cream, peach and lemon cheesecake layers encasing an intense grapefruit core. The fruit weight and oak are synchronised, and integrated acidity elevates the flavours and elongates the finish. Serve it in a chardonnay-specific glass, well chilled. - 96pts, Toni Patterson, Halliday Wine Review

The 2023 Cabernets comprises 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Shiraz and 7% Petit Verdot. Aromatically, the wine is alive: the energy of minerals and flowers, purple fruit and lead pencil, ironstone and dried herbs. These coalesce in the mouth and make for an elegant but driven and beautifully focused package. While this wine is far too young now, I believe it has the makings of one of the true greats. Of course, it will be some time before this fully comes to pass, as it has a long future ahead of it. 13% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. -96pts, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate
