Tasting Notes
Grown on the calcareous-clayey slopes of the famed Rombone vineyard in the commune of Treiso, this single-varietal release represents the classic, terroir-driven viticulture of the Bruno and Danilo Nada family. The 2019 vintage delivered an ideal growing season across the Langhe, producing wines characterized by excellent balance, freshness, and precise structural lines. Hand-picked in early October, the fruit was macerated in vertical stainless steel vats before undergoing 12 months of maturation in traditional oak casks to gently polish its native architecture. In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby red color.
The expressive nose unrolls with great focus, offering pretty floral top notes layered over a core of fresh cranberry, sour cherry, and wild autumn leaves.
On the palate, it departs from the jammy heaviness often associated with the variety, instead adopting a medium-bodied, fluid, and ethereal texture.
Leading critic Antonio Galloni captures this distinctive architecture, observing that the wine is remarkably "floral and lifted, with pretty red berry fruit".
It finishes exceptionally clean and dry, driven by the signature tangy, high-toned acidity of Barbera and framed by deceptively fine-grained tannins that mimic a Nebbiolo-like poise.
