This seminal release continues a lineage established in 1969, crafted from the estate’s original low-yielding vines rooted in the gravelly soils of the Warramate Hills. The 2023 season, described by winemaker Sarah Crowe as one requiring "patience and instinct," resulted in a wine of profound structural integrity and aromatic lift.

It displays a deep, bright purple luminosity and opens with a majestic aromatic profile of black cherry, blackcurrant, cedar, and licorice, with a sophisticated iodine mineral streak.

The palate is a masterclass in poise, balancing concentrated dark fruit weight against refreshing acidity and a finely-etched mineral backbone of ironstone.

Matured for 15 months in French barriques, the wood provides a polished frame for svelte, persistent tannins that carry the savory nuance into a long, majestic finish.

Philip Rich of the Halliday Wine Companion awarded the vintage a near-perfect 99 points, designating it the "2026 Cabernet & Blends of the Year" and praising it as an altogether "sumptuous and majestic wine.", a testament to its impeccable balance of power and grace. He notes that the palate is "simultaneously concentrated, structured and refined," finishing with a distinctive ironstone minerality that speaks of the site's geology. This wine will remain a cornerstone of serious Australian wine collections for decades to come.
