  • 91 – James Button, Decanter

Drawn entirely from Azelia's estate vineyards across Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba, this 100% Nebbiolo is sourced from vines averaging 20 to 30 years of age planted in white calcareous soils. The hot, dry conditions of the 2022 vintage yielded smaller grapes, resulting in elevated fruit concentration while remaining perfectly balanced and free from over-ripeness. Intentionally crafted to present a pure, transparent expression of the varietal, the fruit underwent a short 8 to 10-day maceration and was matured entirely in stainless steel tanks rather than wood.

In the glass, it presents a brilliant, lively ruby color, casting a fragrant perfume of fresh violets, juicy red cherries, wild strawberries, and raspberries.

The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully rounded, showing an inviting crunchiness balanced by a zesty, refreshing acidity and a light frame of velvety tannins. Championing the wine as a standout example of un-oaked, "naked" Nebbiolo, James Button of Decanter designated it a 91-point "must-buy value," praising its "extra richness and concentration in the 2022" where fleshy red fruits are seamlessly wrapped in a delicate finish of wet stone.
