10XTractor + Roederer Cristal Trio

“The wines from this estate have become classier and classier with each passing year. Indeed, it’s fast heading for elite status.”

— CAMPBELL MATTINSON & GARY WALSH, WINE FRONT

Ten Minutes by Tractor is a winery on the Mornington Peninsula. It is the convergence of wine journeys that began almost 40 years ago with a group of individuals and vineyards that fortuitously came together over time to create the winery that exists today.

The  winery started in 1997 with three family owned vineyards in Main Ridge, all ten minutes by tractor apart. Since then new vineyards have been added, but all have their own unique character with different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude and winds which flow through the valleys up from Bass Strait.

Cool places. Beautiful places. Places that are defined by the wines we make and which can seem like worlds apart.

In the last decade 3 stunning vintage releases of Louis Roederer Cristal have left Champagne aficionados across the world starstruck.

2008
In the magical year of 2008 both Cristal and Cristal Rosé were equal second for Galloni with 99pts apiece, these beauties pipped only by the 100pt 2008 Salon. Members of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gave both cuvees 100pt scores, with James Suckling also chiming in with perfect 100. Our own Huon Hooke held back with 99pts but ranked it #1 Champagne for the entire 2008 vintage.

2012
Not to be outdone, the newly released 2012’s are another masterpiece. Cristal Rosé and Cristal hold down rankings #1 and #3 respectively in the Wine Advocate whilst Galloni has them topping the charts yet again - outright 1st and outright 2nd. James Suckling equally impressed with 99pts. It’s a truly astonishing decade for Roederer and a mythical time for Champagne lovers - no Champagne house can lay claim to such stupendous results over such a short time frame.

2014
The 2014 Cristal rocketed to #1 spot in Antonio Galloni’s 2014 Champagne ratings when re-released (98pts) and is said "Not to be missed".
