Brilliant Burgundy - 2020

Château de Meursault is located on the prestigious Meursault appellation, international reference of great white wines. The 65 hectares of the vineyard spread over more than a hundred plots, including 5 Grands Crus, 18 Premiers Crus and a dozen of village and regional appellations Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard,…evocative names like Great Burgundian Climats.

Located in the village of Magny-Les-Villers which is right on the border of where the Cote de Nuit & Cote de Beaune meet the Cornu family have been quietly crafting authentic wines from plots in Burgundy’s heart for generations. The Domaine was founded over fourty years ago with winemaking in the hands of Alex Cornu who took over from his father Claude in 2008, although Claude is very much still a strong presence in the cellar. After working at Vosne Romanee’s most famous producer Domaine de La Romanee Conti for several years Claude returned to the family estate and grew holdings from 3 Acres to the current holding of 19 Acres with vines in some fantastic sites including Savigny Les Beaune, Ladoix, Pernarnd Vergelesses and the flagship holding on the famous Grand Cru hill of Corton. The vineyard practices are predominately organic with the Lutte Raisonnee (reasoned struggle) philosophy adopted to produce vibrant fruit of high quality and low yields. In the winery natural yeasts are used and all reds are 100% destemmed with a mixture of barrel age and maturation depending on the cuvee.
