The No. 1 Italian wine of the Year is a formidable bottle – the Paolo Scavino Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata Riserva 2016. It is one of the best young Barolos ever. The Paolo Scavino family has been making structured and polished Barolos for decades and the winery is now run by two sisters, Enrica and Elisa. The latter is the winemaker, and she has brought a subtle hand to the winemaking, giving the wines even more sophistication and polish. The Rocche dell’Annunziata Riserva 2016 is most certainly her best wine ever.
Commencing with meticulous site selection and vineyard design in 1991, Felton Road's story is one of refusal to compromise. A strict 100% estate policy with fully organic and biodynamic viticulture (BioGro and Demeter certified) ensures that their fruit arrives at the winery as pure as it can be, while their entire estate comes as close to true sustainability as is possible. A commitment to hands off winemaking: gravity flow, wild yeasts, wild malo, an avoidance of fining and filtration all help preserve the wine's expression of its terroir. The result is Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling which accurately express the authenticity and complexity of their unique vineyards.
2021 marked 30 years since Stewart founded Felton Road back in 1991.
