IL POGGIONE
Brunello is the prince of Montalcino wines, produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes picked by hand from vines at least 20 years old. After careful fermentation at controlled temperatures, Tenuta Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is aged for 3 years in French oak barrels. After being aged in wood, the wine is bottle aged: this is an essential process in guaranteeing the pleasantness and the complexity that have made the Brunello di Montalcino world-famous.
"The 2016 Il Poggione seems to fold in upon itself through the finish, which is dark, mysterious and structured, with only hints of black tea and licorice to tempt the imagination. It’s a classic in the making." Drink 2026 - 2040. 97 points Eric Guido - Vinous
ROSSO DI MONTALCINO
“…there’s a lot of depth and power to be found in the 2019s, which may bode very well for the Brunellos of the vintage. Expect the 2019s to drink well upon release, but even better after a year or two of cellaring.” Eric Guido for Vinous
“…the best Rossos of 2018 are really very special. There’s an attractive combination of highly perfumed aromatics, crunchy red fruit and brilliant acidity that makes these wines harmonious, slightly delicate and a true pleasure to drink.” Eric Guido for Vinous
