Tasting Notes

Hongell Family Vineyard, Krondorf. Own-rooted Shiraz planted in 1991, with a single row of Viognier alongside it, picked the same morning and co-fermented. The Viognier brings aromatic lift while tempering the vineyard's naturally assertive tannins: Barossa through a Côte-Rôtie lens. The Wine Advocate has scored every vintage from 2020 through 2024 at 98 points or higher, with Larkin placing The Relic among Australia's finest Shiraz-Viognier wines.
