Critic Scores:
- 96 – Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot
- 94 – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Born from an exceptionally cold, slow-burning growing season in South Gippsland, the 2024 Premium Chardonnay represents a masterclass in patience and low-yielding concentration. Strong winds during flowering naturally restricted crop sizes, forcing the close-planted estate vines to pack deep fruit complexity and piercing natural acidity into minuscule, thick-skinned berries.
Handcrafted under the Burgundian-influenced philosophy of Jean-Marie Fourrier, the wine pours a brilliant, limpid straw-gold, unfurling a sophisticated aromatic mosaic of white peach, ripe Meyer lemon, toasted hazelnut, and honeycomb, all anchored by a distinctive, flinty struck-match mineral reduction.
On the palate, it strikes a breathtaking balance between opulent barrel-matured texture and a laser-sharp, cool-climate structural spine. Leading the critical consensus, Angus Hughson awards the vintage a stellar 96 points, praising its immense concentration, structural precision, and the impeccable harmony achieved between its rich fruit weight and intense, vibrant finish.
